I would like to get opinions on a Sunita Williams signature: it doesn't match any known autopen pattern but am slightly doubtful as, to my eyes, it could show some autopen characteristics like abrupt pen stops, lack of variation in line width and ink flow, particularly at the end of her surname, which has been signed with a long horizontal stroke after the W. Thank you. |

Yes, I do agree, the overall shape is similar to authentic examples of her signature, as she usually sign "S L W----", but am not so sure about the trait as it shows lack of variation in line width and ink flow. This example shows the same pressure of the pen throughout all the signature, particularly as to the the long horizontal stroke representing her surname, after the W. I would expect it to end with a tapering line, whereas this one not only shows the same line width but it also ends with an abrupt stop and, to my eyes, does not show any variation in ink flow as, by contrast, you would expect in an authentic signature. So, I was wondering if it could be an autopen pattern not known before. |

We have seen "autographs" not only not handwritten, but also not autopenned. This is a different technical procedure applying the signature the photo in a different production process.Comparing your item to others received at the same time period might be helpful. You could then see whether the two signatures match.

It does not match any of her in person signatures I have seen. I would not feel totally confident with it.

Would you be so kind as to email me some pictures of yours, please?I would like to compare them to mine as, to my eyes, this one lacks of spontaneity. Thank you in advance for your time! |

MrSpace86 has kindly provided me with a couple of authentic autographs of Suni Williams, obtained through the mail, and asked me to post them here as well, so that fellow collectors can use them as a reference. And so I did. Thanks, Rodrigo!

There's also this photo, with her signing the door at the Cosmonaut Hotel. |
