I have a 3x4 inch card with the Apollo 11 logo printed in halftone (dots) and a Buzz Aldrin signature (solid black/no dots, but presumably a printed facsimile, based on my examination and web research). I have no memory of how I obtained the card.I can't find any examples of this specific card on this forum. Elsewhere on the web I found two auctions for a similar card with signatures of all three Apollo 11 astronauts (with "Edwin" instead of "Buzz"), but no information about the origins of such cards. Presumably my card and the three-signature card are original, contemporaneous (e.g., ~1969/70) souvenir cards, but I have several questions: - Who made the card(s) and when?
- How was it distributed?
- How desirable is it as a collectible? (Are online examples scarce/non-existent because the item is rare, or because there is not much interest in NASA items with pre-printed signatures?)
Any historical information would be appreciated. Thanks! | |
