I have an 8x10 glossy similar to those shown in this topic. It is signed by Ed White.

I am seeking advice regarding as to having James McDivitt sign the photo. I assume it would add value since it would be crew signed, but maybe not? Perhaps it is better to just have White's signature on this?

If you can have the photo signed by Jim McDivitt in person, yes, have it signed. However, I wouldn't risk losing that photo by sending it to have signed.

It's a matter of taste, so you will see varied results.

I am somewhat of a purist and do not prefer signatures added for the sake of being added. If it is a classic pose of Ed White, I'd leave it single signed rather than "manufacturing" a Gemini IV crew piece by adding a modern McDivitt. Some auction results also show evidence that a single signed White is more desirable than the same pose with a McDivitt added.

That said, the first thing I would do is be confident the White is authentic. Perhaps you already are and that's fine. In my experience, I have reviewed a lot of items with a McDivitt added to a fake White. A LOT.

Since it's a photo of White, I would leave it as such signed by just him. Unless McDivitt took the photo and you can get him to sign, "Photograph by /s/ Jim McDivitt."

Vintage Gemini 4 space walk photo with vintage Ed White autograph. You will never get a vintage James McDivitt signature on the photo, everyone's signature changes over time, pen types and ink change, be a purest and leave it just like it is. DON'T add the McDivitt autograph!

I agree. Leave the White as is; maybe display it with a signed McDivitt photo and the Novaspace 'Eagle' GT-4 patch. Or side-by- side in an album.
