I just picked up seven autopens on eBay from dealer "intlduotrading2" and he did something odd that I wanted to share with my friends on cS. He advertised each auction as autopens, which was correct and he was kind enough to bundle for me. When they arrived in the mail today, he included a "Certificate of Authenticate" with each autopenned photo/litho. The certificate states: It is hereby certified that the item of item of memorabilia which accompanies this document has been personally autographed by "astronauts name". The autograph is unconditionally guaranteed as to its authenticity. Then it was signed by the seller. Does this strike anyone else as being a little bit odd? |

Sounds to me like he didn't know what an autopen was. Did the listing state the photos as autopens? |

He did list them as autopens. It was just an odd use of a certificate, with strange language in it. The seller has not responded to my direct message to him. |

Maybe he sells a lot of hand-signed autographs, and when he sent them he lost track of which ones were genuine and which were autopens. That's not good, but at least he was honest and accurate in the eBay listings. That's all I can think of - it certainly didn't benefit the seller to describe them as genuine on a paper COA that only the buyer saw after selling them as autopens on eBay. |

The seller replied that it was an employees mistake and thanked me for making them aware of it. |

COAs really mean nothing anyway, anyone can make one and in the long run its up to the buyer to be educate whether or not its a autopen or real autograph. |
