I saw this and was wondering if the Apollo 15 LRV Compass here was used here on Earth to practice driving on the moon. |

It appears to be a tool for helping Mission Control interpret LRV televised imagery, since the center of the compass is the location of the TV camera on the LRV. |

Thanks again for the insights. I figured it had to be used on here vice by the astronauts on the moon given the construction of the compass is too flimsy. |

Robert alerted me to this thread, and I wanted to say hi. I'm the seller, and I appreciate the extra insight into these two compass-thingies, as I called them. My uncle may well have used them during the field trips, as he was involved in the development of the LRV and I have some records of itineraries and flight/hotel reservations for "Learn to Drive the LRV" trips (my phrase). I'm working my way through many boxes of material to sell, and have some huge LRV manuals to list, so I may ask for input here. Thanks again! |
