Opinions on this Neil Armstrong signed photo? Very rare signed photo (approximately 3.5 X 3.5 inches square) of the Apollo Lunar Excursion Module ("LEM") signed boldly in blue by the first man to walk on the moon--Neil Armstrong. While there are many stock photos of Neil Armstrong, this is a one-of-a-kind item that you will rarely see. |

WOOF... in my opinion, this photo was never in the same room with Neil Armstrong, let alone signed by him. |

Response from seller: My father gave that to me over 10 years ago. He obtained it directly from Commander Armstrong in Ohio, as my uncle lived minutes away from him. At that time he also gave me an incredible signed stock NASA photo, which has faded considerably despite being under UV protective museum glass. The signed photo I'm selling has been in a plastic case, inside a folder for the past 10+ years, and my father did not display any of his 27 Armstrongs or other astronaut autographs--they were all stored without exposure to light. I also have several space-flown items that I personally delivered to and received back from the person who put them on the shuttle (STS 69), and my son has played on the same baseball team with four sons of three current NASA astronauts. Their fathers and mother's autographs look brand new too, but then again I've learned my lesson on storage. |

Not completely sure as is hard to be with Armstrong's autographs, but does look like examples of late 80's and early 90's signatures. |

It may be good, but I would not buy it. I am leery of high dollar items with a "no return" policy. |

Going by the signature ONLY (i.e. disregarding reproduction possibilities, the seller's story, etc.), I'd not dismiss this autograph out of hand, as it does show some traits of a genuine (albeit "sloppy") Armstrong signature that most forgers wouldn't think to reproduce. That said, I completely understand Ray's (spacepsycho's) take on it, but I'd not bid on it, as there would always be just too many doubts associated with it. |
