I stumbled across an Apollo 8 signed item at a very cheap price. I am certain the Lovell is a preprint, but am particularly interested in the Anders signature since his is always hard to read.

The Borman and Anders are both done in black marker and do not appear to be preprints.

Borman and Anders look good to me.

There are quite a few of those treaties out there with autopen Lovell and authentic Anders and Borman combinations.

I have the same set of signatures on an Earthrise litho with the Apollo 8 stamp. Good Borman and Anders with a Lovell autopen. Your Anders is good.

Interesting - I wonder what circumstances led to so many of this specific item with genuine signatures including Anders - a longtime reluctant signer - and the Lovell being an autopen.

Thanks for the help! I got a great deal on this item, so you guys saved me a lot since I was about to buy an Anders signed Sieger block if this had turned out to be a fake. Much appreciated!

Perhaps someone more knowledgeable than I am knows more, but I am not aware of such a thing as as an Anders Sieger block. As far as I know there were 20 signatures in the Sieger series and Anders is not one of them.

The space treaty facsimiles were printed by space enthusiast Seymour Kessler of New York during the Apollo program years. Many astronauts, some that he knew, were gifted many of the space treaty productions for their own uses.

Some were actually flown/carried aboard Apollo spaceflight missions as they were so well printed and produced.

Sy would get many veteran astronauts to sign them for him, also, he would on occasion offer others for purchase with and without signatures on them.

We first had contact with each other when I was in high school inquiring about his space treaties. I was able to purchase many of them, and different treaty types, throughout the 1970s. Some with great astronaut signatures could be picked up from Sy for little as $10 or $15 on some of his space treaty productions.

He was a good man and always very kind to me as an avid teenage wide-eyed space buff.

I have one of these as well. The Anders is dead on. A fellow collectSPACE member helped me get Jim Lovell sign it at an ASF function. I had it personalized (I can hear the groans) but I knew that items would never leave my collection.

To display it, I printed a small photo of the Apollo 8 crew to cover the autopen. Looks quite nice!
