I have started collecting shuttle crew signed photos and one I recently bought looks like it could be a copy. I can't say for sure either way but something about the way they look seems odd to me. Are there any signs to look for that would tell me for sure if it was a copy? |

We'll need to narrow that down a little... - You are referring to lithos rather than photos?
- When you use the word "copy" you're referring to the signatures rather than the litho/photo?

Yes I should have said litho. Not sure what term to use copy, reprint, pre-print. It looks like the autograph is part of the photo instead of on the photo. I have never encountered that before so I was thinking it might be a copy of an authentic signed litho. |

There do exists autopenned crew lithos from the Astronaut Office (that is, the signatures are individually applied by machine to the litho and thus the "autographs" can be in different places), as well as other pre-printed lithos, usually to a division of a company (where the "signed" litho is copied in quantities.)Either way, if the signatures matches exactly against another signature, it's not real. One such source I use is isitreal.com. |

Does the litho in question have the "look and feel" of other lithos in your collection and does it have printed text on the reverse side? They're two good indicators as to whether what you have is a genuine autopen release or something different. May I ask which mission? You can scan me a copy if you wish and I'd be happy to offer an opinion. My initial reaction however, is that you have an autopen. |
