How much will a commemorative limited edition Robert L. Crippen GI Joe Classic collection astronaut autographed by Bob Crippen be worth?

The recently acquired autographed item above is one of a few Robert L. Crippen GI Joe astronaut figures produced in 1997 by Hasbro incorporated. The Space Shuttle Astronaut is outfitted in a space suit with patches and air hose connector, helmet with communications link and visor, gloves, air hose, ventilator, boots and dog tags.

Along with the Robert L. Crippen figure is a biography of his contribution to space exploration. The casing has a commemorative limited edition GI Joe badge.

Is there a current market value for an item of such historic magnitude?

The unsigned model is still readily available on the secondary market. For example, right now on eBay you can purchase one for as low as $30 (Buy-It-Now) or even less, if by auction.

This past February, the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation held a private signing with Crippen, when you could have had the figure signed for $100.

The National Space Club of Huntsville auctioned an Crippen-signed figure in April 2012 for $200.

Of course, both the signing and the auction were benefiting charities, so a retail value would likely be somewhat less.

All times are CT (US)
