How much will a commemorative limited edition Robert L. Crippen GI Joe Classic collection astronaut autographed by Bob Crippen be worth? |

The recently acquired autographed item above is one of a few Robert L. Crippen GI Joe astronaut figures produced in 1997 by Hasbro incorporated. The Space Shuttle Astronaut is outfitted in a space suit with patches and air hose connector, helmet with communications link and visor, gloves, air hose, ventilator, boots and dog tags.Along with the Robert L. Crippen figure is a biography of his contribution to space exploration. The casing has a commemorative limited edition GI Joe badge. Is there a current market value for an item of such historic magnitude? |

The unsigned model is still readily available on the secondary market. For example, right now on eBay you can purchase one for as low as $30 (Buy-It-Now) or even less, if by auction. This past February, the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation held a private signing with Crippen, when you could have had the figure signed for $100. The National Space Club of Huntsville auctioned an Crippen-signed figure in April 2012 for $200. Of course, both the signing and the auction were benefiting charities, so a retail value would likely be somewhat less. | |
