Topic: Value of NASA photos stamped "RCA Photo Lab"

I have 848x10 photo from the early 60's that were sent to my husband from his uncle who was an electrician at Cape Canaveral. They are old NASA pictures of astronauts Walter Schirra Jr.; L. Gordon Cooper Jr.; M. Scott Carpenter; John H. Glenn, Jr.; the Sigma 7 Recovery, Launch of Mercury-Atlas 6, Lift-Off and other photos of Mercury-Atlas 9; First flight (lift-off) of 163' Saturn space vehicle; Pre-launch views of Pershing Missile #320; Launch of USAF Minuteman 408 from silo 31 Cape Canaveral; Launch of NASA S-3 Payload aboard a Thor-Delta Missile; Titan M-2 on Pad; Launch of Polaris test vehicle from the USS George Washington; Launch of America's first man in space on the Mercury Redstone MR-3 from Cape Canaveral launch site on 5-5-61; and a bunch of others, a lot with no stamp on the back of what they are or when they were taken. Some are color, most are black and white. Can't find anything about Kodak on the backs. Many have "RCA Photo Laboratory" stamped on the back along with description of photo. Some have dates others picture numbers. Any idea how to find values for these pictures? Thanks. |

In general photos from unmanned missions (e.g missiles and tests) are not very valuable. Some black and white images from the early space program can be fairly collectible but few are really valuable.The really valuable vintage space photos are generally color shots showing astronauts on the moon or on the Gemini spacewalks. Some other visually appealing color shots of the Earth, moon and spacecraft can be valuable too. Only color photos usually have a watermark on the back. If you want to get an estimate of value it would be worth taking a few photos showing all the prints spread out. People here would be able to spot any standout photos and give you a better idea of what they might be worth. | |
