My grandfather recently gave me a signed photo he acquired while working with the Gemini program. I have a few questions on the piece.

First, I am wondering about the printed personalization preceding the Grissom signature. It appears to be written with the same pen as the Grissom signature, but I cannot find any examples of his print as it seems he used cursive in the examples I could find.

My grandfather was out of the office the day Grissom and Young stopped by so he also missed out on meeting them as well as visually authenticating the signatures. This photo was waiting for him when he returned.

Second, I would like to have this professionally framed and would like to be educated on the correct way to frame a piece like this before I take it in. I was thinking of leaving the red NASA portion of the photo visible on the front and maybe having a window on the back of the photo showing the "A KODAK PAPER" mark. I was also thinking of bringing the border down on the top to conceal the scissor job that was done to the photo.

Any opinions, suggestions, or comments on either the framing process or the photo and signatures would be greatly appreciated.

On a side note I believe my grandfather also has a metal model of the Gemini Titan rocket on a stand maybe a foot tall that I'm sure he acquired around the same time. Any thoughts on this?

In my opinion, this is authentically signed.

I have said this before and I'm going to bore and perhaps annoy the purists by saying it again! Personally I would take a copy of the photo and frame that and leave the original safely stored and away from any possible fading due to light.

Me too. The only thing that sees the light of day in a frame in my home are high resolution photo reprints. Under glass, no one knows it's a copy and the original is safely stored away in a mylar sleeve.
