I thought cS members might find this interesting, although I think only people who live near White Sands, NM will have a chance of buying it and picking it up. If you go to the General Services Administration auction website and go down on the left to click on "NASA Shuttle / Hubble", the first lot (ending tonight) is for a pile of "Space Vehicle Components." The photo is frustratingly small and blurry, but maybe somebody might recognize something. It is at $506 right now.

One can't post direct links to lots on that website, but if you can search past auctions for 71QSCI10841055, you'll see that somebody in 2010 got a bunch of flown items like a pair of boots and a space suit inner glove for $300.

71QSCI13177002 consisted of 4,553 small gold plates. "Approximately half of these plates flew on the shuttle." There was one bid of $500,000; which didn't meet the reserve.

All times are CT (US)
