Has anyone else seen these posters from the 2011 Legends of Aerospace Tour?The signatures are small, but from what I can see the signatures look good. But I am wondering if they are pre-printed. The Armstrong sure looks like a late 60s/early 70s style.  |

Steve, I have contacted the seller and asked if the signatures are preprints. I will post his response if/when I receive one. |

I'm guess that is a pre-print signature or it is part of the poster. That is an older style of signature used by Armstrong with the more curved hoop style "A" verse the more modern 90s style with a flatter top "A". |

Compare the Lovell "signed" poster in the auction with this one. They are the same, and therefore a confirmed pre-print. |

That's what I suspected. The placement was too perfect as well... Like it was done by a graphic designer rather than someone signing in the real world. Thanks for finding the match. |

That's a great print as it shows Neil happy and smiling in his later years. I bet that's how many here remember him but most of the media of him shows him 40 years ago.Is this poster available at reasonable prices somewhere? |

In the seller's defense he might not have known they were preprint autographs. The Lovell looks like a normal sharpie autograph and if you don't know much about autographs someone could be easily fooled.Also this guy mentions trying to get Armstrong to sign a thing of Tang! Hardly the attempt or item of a seasoned or knowledgeable autograph collector. The guy probably just didn't know the difference between a preprint or real autograph and definitely didn't know Armstong's no autographs ever policy. |

Here is the response I received from the seller regarding the authenticity of the signatures... I was writing to answer your questions about my astronaut autographs. Sorry it took so long, I was stuck working on base all day. The sheets are 8'11" (I don't have a ruler handy so they look like they're the same size as a sheet of copy paper) and the photos are somewhat smaller than that on the printed sheets. As far as authenticity, I was working perimeter security during the autograph signing session so my commander went up in line and got those done for me. I didn't know about preprinted autographs till I saw your message so I looked up how to test for them and did the light test. The ink is above the gloss on the printouts, most noticeable on the David Hartman as he was signing autographs with a marker. You'll also note in the USO web page it says they would be signing autographs for us. |

Predictably the page says nothing about them signing autographs. I guess it's possible that only Hartman was signing and the guy was handed the prints later, saw the real Hartman and got confused (it's thin but possible). Unfortunately Hartman isn't worth the cost of me getting out of bed this morning so no matter what he thinks, I doubt he'll get much for them. |

Read it again, it's in the seventh paragraph: The tour will log more than 15,000 flight miles, with tour sponsor American Airlines providing round-trip, trans-Atlantic transportation for tour participants. The Legends expect to meet with more than 10,000 troops, give away thousands of items, sign autographs, give motivational speeches and have numerous meet and greets with troops. You're right. Boy I sure did miss that!I guess there's a chance Lovell and Cernan signed some autographs there at least. But there's still no chance that Armstrong did. Maybe they meant someone will be signing (probably David Hartman). |

One of the soldiers who served under me on active duty e-mailed me right after this happened and he swore that Armstrong signed his in person. I told him to hold onto it if he had, because it's worth its weight in gold.You take from that whatever you like, just relaying what I was told by someone that I know for sure was there at the time. Whether he got Armstrong to actually sign it, I have no way to know for sure. |
