I sent NASA a request back in the late 60's requesting signatures for my 9th or 10th birthday. A few weeks later I received in the mail on 3x5 cards autographs of the following: Edwin E. Aldrin Jr., Dave Scott, Neil Armstrong, Frank Borman, W. Anders, Tom Stafford, Rusty Schweickart, John Young, James Lovell, Michael Collins and James A. McDivitt.

What should be my next step? The signatures look real as far as I can tell.

If the autographs are authentic, you have a valuable collection. That said, NASA frequently used a machine called the Autopen to fulfill autograph requests.

To begin, it would be helpful if you could share photos or scans of the autographs. See the instructions for how to do so here.

One piece of advice: hold off accepting any offers you might get via e-mail until you hear back from some of the members here on the value of what you have. Most of our readers are trustworthy and wouldn't think to try to take advantage of anyone, but this site is open to all in the public to read...

From what I see here, they all appear to be Autopen (machine signed) signatures.

Unfortunately, all of the signatures appear to match known autopen patterns. They aren't completely worthless, but they aren't valuable either. The total collection may be worth around $15-$25.

Oh well, thanks for the review anyway, I still remember the day I received them in the mail. Never expected a response from NASA, I think I will still have them framed for old times sake.

I also received some of those in the early 1970's. Unfortunately I too thought they were real when I received them, only to have my hopes dashed years later.

All times are CT (US)
