Can anyone provide an approximate, up-to-date value of a framed copy of R.L. Rasmussen's "Naval Aviation In Space" limited edition print? I know at one time these were selling in the $1,800-2,000 range, but I believe that was a while ago. I would like to get a realistic estimate of the value, as I am strongly considering selling my copy. |

I just sold one to a fellow cS collector for $2,000.00. I'll probably regret it down the road, but I thought it was fair price at this time. So did he. Hope this helps. It truly is a great piece when framed. |

Three of these sold at R&R in 2007. Two fetch $2065 (each) and one fetched $2005. Those prices include buyer's premium, meaning the selling prices were $1600-1700 (which is closer to $1300-1400 after seller's fees are subtracted)So if you can get $1800-2000 for your print, I think you're getting a fair price. |

Naval Aviation in Space SOLD for $3500 plus $50 S&H on eBay.Seems like the market is taking off for these also for the authentic Armstrong!!! |

Let's see - the last post in this topic was two and half years ago.
$3500 on ebay in 2008. KSC has a print on their web site for $12,000.00 [but I think they're throwing in shipping]
Funny. I was giving a fleeting thought to selling mine. I wonder what it's actually worth today? I KNOW it's not worth anywhere near $12K, that's for sure. [but I'll take $10K and throw in shipping, too]  |

The $3500 on eBay was on the high end- they still seem to go for about $2000-3000, including one for $2988 on RR in August. |

So that brings us back to about $3500 with the buyers premium. I figured that was about right.
I was trolling ebay and some of the art sites last night just out of curiousity. I'm amazed at some of the prices for some of the out of print old - and not so old - Alan Bean prints, too. It was like someone changed all of the prices by 25-75% when I wasn't looking. What I THOUGHT was about $495 last year are now listed at $795 this year. Quite an eye opener.
But that $12K price gave me the best chuckle of them all. |

Keep in mind that the seller did not get $3500 for their item. They got $2988 minus the 20% seller's fee...or $2390. |

But the buyer was out of pocket $3500. A lot better than $12K.
I've also started seeing "premium pricing" on Alan Bean's "In the Beginning", "In Flight" and "Kissing the Earth". I know they're all out of print, but someone really raised the prices when I wasn't looking. Even "Homeward Bound" is commanding a decent number.
Just a simple observation, that's all.

Remember-what the asking price is for an item is not important. A seller can ask anything they what, whether it's reasonable or not. It's what the item actually sells for that's important and should be considered when determining how much an item is worth. |

I think the going price (or at least the realistic going price) for these at present is about $2000-$2500 max. Might be more now but the price you've been offered you could probably buy two for that.Just take a look at the comments above here - they all answer your question. I believe Divemaster is even thinking of selling his one so I'd suggest contacting him and asking for a price. |

It looks like one sold for $4,850 on Novaspace. I would give some serious thought to selling mine for $3,500, but I don't think I could do it for less. These prints are either gone to go up in value or the next generation is going to lose interest and they will be worth less... who knows. I think I would have a hard time letting it go for $5,000, but I am not normal. I just wish I had bought more than one when they were $250.Any one want to tempt me? |

Sorry, can't tempt you much — I blew a lot of money on space books, autographs, Alan Bean's 'Reaching for the Stars' (and furniture - what good is that?!?) so I haven't budgeted for the "Naval Aviation in Space" print yet - still think it is excessively priced since there is the possibility of it's value dropping soon. We'll see... |

I was very fortunate to get mine back in the mid 1990's for around $250 each. There will always be some fluctuation in any valuable item, but having the signatures of the first American in space, the first American to orbit the Earth, the first human being to set foot on the Moon, and a nice color rendering to boot, I just can't see it's value going down at all over time, only go up. They only made 1000 of them (plus maybe a few artist proofs), and with inevitable loss and damage to some of them each year (how many of them were framed without archival materials or placed in areas were lighting has degraded them over time), I truly believe it will always be one of the most sought after and appreciated space items out there. |
