PSA came back as "likely not genuine." It looked good to me. Thoughts

Classic PSA nonsense... They should be sued for authenticating space.

Perfect signature.

I'm curious what they are seeing that makes them say not genuine. The flow of the signature is good. The three part "N". The three "A" is good the "L" has a smooth curve. The baseline of the "Eil" is perfect. Even the inscription of Apollo 11 is right on.

The only [very minor] issue I can see with this item is the top of the A in Apollo is typically sharper and more pointed. If that is why PSA failed it, is anyone's guess. Otherwise it looks fine to me and I'd be stunned if it was not authentic.

It appears PSA Quick Opinion has had a hair trigger on Armstrongs as of late. On the Autograph Magazine Live forum, someone showed a few signed 3x5s that PSA QO failed last week. In my opinion they were textbook authentic and did not have even the slightest whiff of an atypical trait.

Getting back to the signed airline postcard... don't you think if a forger was THIS GOOD at forging Armstrong they'd be signing something more desirable and valuable than the back of an airline postcard?

Steve, I think it's a good signature, but like you pointed out, the A is different. What makes me wary of it is at the bottom stroke of the A in Armstrong, it looks as if the pen was lifted from the paper and put back down as the stroke moves back up.

From what I've seen, that's an obvious tell that the autograph is not authentic. Opinions?

Are you referring to the little blob of ink on the left side of the elbow in the paraph? If so, that is seen and expected in a ballpoint signature. He did it all the time. Probably due to the way the pen angle shifted as he moved through that part of the signature.

Has to be the heavy blobs of ink during the pen strokes, which they might say indicate a pause and a restart to the stroke.

Looks like the buyer of this item is attempting to flip it.. The story is a lie as this buyer wasnt the one who acquired it and I have never heard of the authenticator.

Michael, please go back and look at the two listings again to see where you went wrong. Try not to rush judgments particularly if you're going to accuse someone of lying.

It is a different postcard from a different airline, so it is not a flip.

However, I would never take the word from a forensic document examiner. If I remember right this particular one has a bad reputation. I believe he authenticated for Coaches Corner and passed a lot of bad fakes.

I do not say this signature is bad or good, just do not trust the authentication.
