Any UK members care to point me in the right direction for some quality photo storage sleeves?

Try Silverprint in London (if you're nearby, visit in person; the place is wonderfully disorganized, but they have great people and stuff). For the sleeves you're looking for, see if these work.

I am also looking for quality photo storage sleeves in the United States... can you recommend me a place, maybe near NYC?

UK, try Preservation Equipment Limited.

PrintFile are the best quality.

...or you can always try the obvious place... eBay!

For USA suppliers, I prefer using either Bags Unlimited (for their mylar photo sleeves) or TC Bulk (look under "toploaders" for some nice, rigid sleeves). I have gotten fast and excellent service from both companies.

I use clearfile archive acid-free sleeves. They have sleeves in all sizes. I got them from Firstcall Photographic.

I use Archival Methods. Good stuff, and I really like their binders.

I would strongly advise against purchasing from Light Impressions. My experience has been that they often discontinue products leaving the collector to either repurchase new materials or have inconsistent styles within their collection. Also, I have had to wait months to obtain products which were claimed would be in stock "shortly"...one of which was discontinued while on backorder.

I live in the UK and am looking for a website/store, in UK if possible, that sells the correct type of protective sleeves for my signed photos/lithos and FDCs. I'm not sure what I should buy so any help would be most appreciated. Please email. Many thanks.

I've always used Arrowfile in the UK (www.arrowfile.com) and always found the protective sleeves to be good quality and robust.

US - PolyBags4Less

While not for photo use, I just bought a case of 5x5, 2 mil bags for patches. Perfect size and much cheaper than the others. They are also food-grade, virgin poly. And they have sizes up to 15 x 20 or sum such craziness so they should have what you need for photos too.

Folks, I'm an archivist by profession. The archival supply houses I use are Gaylord, University Products (you don't have to be a university to buy items), and Hollinger/Metal Edge. I avoid Light Impressions.

All times are CT (US)
