First time poster; my grandfather passed away and unknown to me, was an avid collector of space memorabilia. I am in the process of moving and while packing boxes came across multiple coins from the Apollo and Mercury missions.

At the bottom of the box, I found a binder filled with first edition stamps of the lunar missions/Russian cosmonauts, each autographed by the entire mission crew and for Apollo 11 the signature of of President Nixon along with Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins.

Perhaps the most interesting set of stamps is autographed by the first seven astronauts along with Wernher von Braun.

There is a sheet of stamps commemorating the Apollo-Soyuz missions signed by the crews and President Ford.  There is also sheet signed exclusively by the Soviet cosmonaut team.

I admit I'm not much of a space buff, but I know a good deal about history and the important role played by these men. I'm likely to have the full set appraised and was wondering if anyone had an idea of valuation.

The stamps are all in mint condition and I have every reason to believe the autographs are authentic; my grandfather was an army Colonel in the 1960s and he had several letters sent to him by Presidents Ford, Nixon and Carter, though I am unsure how he was able to gather so complete a collection.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.  Thanks, Rob

Hello Rob and welcome to collectSPACE.

The first thing you should do is make the images of your find available for viewing. You can post them here or provide a link to another host. The base of knowledge among the members of this site is extreme and, after inspecting the visuals, you'll get no shortage of opinions on their value.

The autographs may be legitimate, autopens, secretarials, or forgeries, only a close inspection can reveal which. Good luck.

Although it's quite possible all the signatures are genuine there's still a chance that some are Autopens. Don't get too carried away with thoughts of riches until you get some feedback on them from experts (like the people here).

Also, don't accept any offers to sell anything until you get a real idea of value from multiple sources.
