I've only recently discovered this website. I have what I believe is a John Glenn autographed promotional item. It was in a box of stuff I picked up at an estate sale some years ago, and it has set in this cardboard tube, like a shipping tube, for all of this time. I only recently opened the tube to find not only John Glenn's autograph, but a painting by a local artist as well! Go figure.

Anyway, it is 20x24" and I've not been able to find anything on the web. Maybe I'm doing wrong search, I don't know....

What do you think? Real? Autopenned? It appears to be gold paint marker or something like that. Thanks!

It looks like a very nice authentically signed item.

Unless it is a preprint, it looks good.

How can I tell if it's a "pre-print"? The signature appears to have marks that I'd think were consistent with a human signing it... but how can I tell?

I've never seen one of these before. Are they common? Thanks for your reply.

It's a nice poster but if you are looking at resale value it's important to note that Glenn signs for free through the mail.

With that in mind I would think this item has a resale value of a few tens of dollars at most.

Interesting. I'm thinking it wasn't actually mailed, though. The mailing tube never had a label on it.

Has anyone seen one of these?

If it was signed on the poster as being printed with the signature. Hold the photo up near eye level at an angle towards a source of light and look at the signature. If the signature appears to be "under" the gloss, or if the signature disappears altogether, that's a strong indication that it is preprinted into the photo. A hand-written signature will appear "on top" of the gloss and will not disappear when held at an angle towards light.

Thanks. It certainly appears the signature is on top of the print. Anyway to figure a value on this?

Thanks again!

I picked up one of these advertising posters on eBay last year for about $15 then sent it to John Glenn for his signature. I think $75-100 would be a fair value. If you are interested in selling please let me know. I would love to get another for my other son.
