Just curious: can anyone explain to me why this Gemini cover (on eBay): 230462229773 went for under $11 and this one: 120559601143 is currently over $140? The last one differs by having a well known seller and coming from a famous collector.

Yes they do appear the same. I would like to know also if there is any reason?

No reason other than overzealous bidder between two collectors... typically sells between $10-$20.

What is the general feeling from board members about the seller of the first Gemini cover?

We all of course, know Florian, but what about Gabi2311? I've seen several autographed covers from her that in my view are very questionable. To be fair though, I did pick up my last two KNIGA Vostok signed covers from her, and received excellent service.

I just wonder if she's seen as a reputable seller?

eBay and bidding there is sometimes very irrational. Just get two bidders wild about an item (for whatever reason) and the bidding rage goes on. Add renown - a good source (Ramkissoon) and a well known and reputable seller (Florian).

Gaby Leidig and Anton Leidig are good friends of Florian Noller's. They often co-operate. They're just not that well known.

I've also bought several lots from Gabi2311 and found them be very good sellers. Although I haven't bought any signatures, all my purchases have gone through without a problem. They have also been responsive to emails and always answered my questions. While I can't comment on signatures, I would certainly recommend them to Board members in general.

There's a fairly easy explanation:

The one from Gabi has a hand postmarker and the one from me has a machine cancellation.

I don't know the specifics here, but for the real collector this could mean the difference between a Neil Armstrong autopen and a Neil Armstrong quote "That's one small step..."

Again I don't know if that was the reason here, but I had a several well known bidders on that cover, so I guess they knew what they were doing.

I may add that I had the pleasure of meeting David Ball, author of "American Astrophilately" two days ago and we also talked about some covers I brought with me that he had never seen before.

There are indeed covers where even the diameter size of a postmarker could mean the difference between $1 and $100.

That's what makes this hobby so interesting, always look for the odd or unusual stuff!
