I just thought that I'd show you guys this amazing item currently up for auction on eBay.

I'm not going to buy it or anything (starting bid is $20,000 and rightly so), but I thought we could just all admire it - it is simply amazing. Its a baseball signed by 29 of the first 30 astronauts, including 8 moonwalkers, and there are some really rare signatures on there like Neil Armstrong, Charles Bassett, Elliott See, Ed White, Gus Grissom, Roger Chaffee, Bill Anders and Clifton Williams plus many more!

Apparently, its one of only two such items in existence!

I just thought we could all drool over it... if only I were rich!

Normally I don't wade into discussions about autograph authenticity...but there are so many signatures that look bad to me here that I would not know where to begin. The Armstrong was the first to stand out of course, but even the Alan Bean looks bad. I don't think I would trust any of them even if I took the time to look more closely.

The Armstrong could well be a genuine example of his early signature. The trouble is with this type of medium (rough, curved surface) is that you'll never get an easily authenticatable exemplar. Provenance is everything.

Personally I'd love this number of signatures, but absolutely not on a ball!

I agree, this is a great collection of signatures, but I would prefer them on something associated with space exploration.

True, true I suppose having the signatures on a baseball is a bit odd, but then again baseball is a popular American sport and all these guys are American heroes so it makes sense - but yes these signatures on something space related would make this item quite simply perfect I agree!

All times are CT (US)
