As collectSPACE reported, the command module which three American astronauts used for the 1975 Apollo-Soyuz Test Project mission is newly on display at the California Science Center.I am offering for sale for $895 an American flag that was on board when that command module became: - the last Apollo spacecraft to fly;
- the first American spacecraft to take part in (as the large NASA certificate the flag is attached to reads) "the first international space mission";
- and the last spacecraft of any kind to splash down in the ocean. (Or "to splash down deliberately" - the next year a Soyuz accidentally landed on, and sank in, a frozen lake.)
The flag is 4x6", affixed to an 11x14" 1981 presentation certificate bearing the autopen signature of Chris Kraft. In fine condition, with the usual toning to the flag from adhesive on its reverse. Identical flown flags and certificates have sold at auction in the last year for $1,187 and for $943. |
