To all of you meteorite lovers out there - I will soon be taking stock of some suspected meteorites from Mercury. I say suspected because of course we don't know for sure about the composition of Mercury's landmass other than what is observed from space (come on NASA, sort it out!).
Some professionals say it is a meteorite from Mercury, others disagree and say it is too old to be from Mercury (4.56 billion years to be exact). 4.56 billion years old, which would have been almost immediately after the solar system sprang from the swirling disk of gas and dust around the newborn sun.
So at least one thing is for certain... nothing like this has ever been found before now and even if it isn't from Mercury, that would make it even more fascinating!
