I am inquiring to see if someone is willing to part with and sell their limited edition signed print. I was out of town for the RR auction where one was listed, so I am hoping someone might be willing to sell there copy, framed or unframed. Thanks. |

An eBay seller (coincidentally only 30 minutes from you, in Lancaster) has one for a Buy It Now of $4000, or best offer. It has some condition issues, like water discoloration and rippling, but this is just the kind of damage that can be completely fixed for about $250 by a good restorer. I could recommend one in Virginia to whom you could mail it. You might want to make an offer.Usually those in good condition sell for around $4000 or more - that one on RR was a relative bargain at $2800.

Ah, I've seen many an auction sale price that made me kick myself for not bidding... but a few years ago I just started telling myself that the other bidders would have just bid higher if I'd gotten in. If you'd bid $3200 on the RR one, the other guy would have gone up to $3700, etc. |

I took a look at the one on eBay. If you look very closely at he photos of it, the right side, beside Armstrong shows wrinkles. It also has marks where it might have been matted. To me, not a good example of this print and even though both signatures are strong, to me not worth $4K. RR's price was $2300, plus a 20% premium, which brought it up to $2800, plus shipping. |

A print with such evident failures like damage due to water or massive moisture and fox marks is truly not worth the money you are paying for a print which is in excellent condition. |

When speaking with Paul Calle at his last UACC show before passing away, I asked him about this famous print. He told me the paper used for the 1000 prints and the AP's should have been heavier. He said it was unfortunate that the waves in the paper was a very common problem of exposure to the air. I have three of these prints, I've seen 30-40-50 of these over the years and I've only seen one that was perfectly flat and smooth. That one print had been stored flat and unframed in Phoenix. If you find one of these perfect prints it will cost you substantially more than $2800. I'm surprised any of these prints are selling for less than $5k because of the ironclad provenance, it was the last time Neil Armstrong signed a publicly offered edition and they're such a stunning rendition of the Apollo 11 mission. |

Armstrong signed at least three other commercial art prints that were publicly offered since signing the Calle print in 1976. Armstrong signed the Lindbergh Foundation's "Lindbergh Arrives Over Paris" around the same time as the Calle prints, and then in 1989 and 1993 respectively, he signed R.L. Rasmussen's "Naval Aviation in Space" and "Navy to the Moon" prints. |

True, and he also signed the Victory print and a print for a museum or society... the name escapes me at the moment. Additionally, he signed a number of X-15 related photos for the Flight Test Historical Foundation in the early 90s.In all, he actually "officially" signed a fair amount of prints and photos. |

I have seen this print before and it is truly unique for sure. However, I have been able to find the exact quality numbered print I have been looking for and at a very fair price. My thanks to all of you for your replies and information. |

My error, I stand corrected, I thought these were signed by NA in 1994 or 1995. Regardless, finding one of these prints without any waves in the paper is extremely rare. |

Thanks to everyone for their posts. I was able to purchase a perfect example of the signed lithograph, no wrinkles, fading, or any other defects. |

Suffice to say, it was well worth the price for this absolutely pristine copy of the print. |
