I just listed a number of items on eBay for the first time in a couple of years. They include a Neil Armstrong signed photo - the photo being the one picture taken by Aldrin that shows Armstrong standing on the lunar surface. [EDIT: see the reply post below.]It has a 12-word inscription, including the words "Apollo 11." The signature is also one of the largest I've ever seen of Armstrong's. There is also a flag flown on Apollo X, mounted on a certificate that is hand-signed by the crew. Cernan wrote an additional inscription and signed again as "Gene." Most of the other items are ones I have previously offered on CollectSPACE, with much lower starting bids. To see them, please click on one of the items above, then click on "See other items." It occurred to me that I could be more specific here about the other items I just put on eBay. They include an Apollo 11 crew-signed, uninscribed photo - the famous "visor shot" of Aldrin on the moon. It comes with a Steve Zarelli Letter of Authenticity.There are also items signed by the crews of Apollo 7, 8, 12, 14, 15, and 16; as well as by Gus Grissom, Frank Borman, Buzz Aldrin, and Jack Swigert. All of these items end on Wednesday night. (Sincere apologies to the many collectors in Europe for that timing - get your bids in early and often!) |

Are you sure that photo is of Armstrong on the lunar surface?You may think it looks like the partial panorama that shows Armstrong's back to the camera. But your photo is actually Aldrin reaching the lunar surface for the first time You can see here that your photo is the last in a sequence that starts with Aldrin coming out of the door (5866), then down the ladder, then reaching the surface (5869). |

Wow, good catch. I quickly went back and revised the listing — thank goodness no one had bid yet. Yes, I had thought it was a crop of that panorama, but you are absolutely right — very similar pose and angle, but definitely different photos — especially regarding the LM leg.Thank you! |

The auctions for the 14 signed items I have on eBay end in just about 24 hours, starting at 9:42 p.m. EST (Wed.) with the Albert Einstein signed photo and ending at 9:51 p.m. EST with the Neil Armstrong signed photo mentioned above.Please do click on "See other items", and remember my shipping discount to top bidders who tell me they are part of this forum. If I may suggest, two very nice items that don't seem to be getting a lot of attention (based on the number of watchers) are an Apollo 14 crew-signed postal cover, and the largest Apollo 15 crew-signed photo I've ever seen. I'd be all over the Apollo 15 photo if not for the color. I'm just not happy with the reddish tint. Back in the old days when they printed with chemicals, it was common for photos to be off color if the photo was developed in the wrong temperature liquid. That's probably what happened to yours. It is not sepia toned. It's just a bad print.I have a feeling it could be framed with a colored or tinted glass that would eliminate most of the red, but I'm not willing to look for it. I will definitely keep an eye on the Einstein though. That's a hard one to pass up, even if it blows my bank account. |

I have to agree with you about the Apollo 15 photo. Unusual and attractive size, but a color scheme that is... interesting, whatever caused it. I was going to make its opening bid the $195 that I did for most of the other Apollo crews I have for sale, like 14 and 16, but then decided to make it $95 because of the coloring. Still, I hope some folks consider it.On the other hand, I also have to agree with you about the Albert Einstein signed photo! It's already got a bid, so somebody is going to get that great item tonight. | |
