Nice looking piece - what's the cost?If it was flown aboard the CM, wouldn't that have been an appropriate photo to use instead of the LM? |

Thanks for your reply. We are looking at a price of $199 + Shipping. As we are Moonpans, the intention right from the start was to use our panoramas as the background, whether the artifact was orbit or surface flown. After all, without the CSM there would have been no landing, so we hope the image represents the mission in general and not just the status of the artifact. We hope to release acrylics from the other lunar landing missions in future which will also use panoramas as the background, so they will all make a full uniform looking set. |

How big will the beta cloth piece be? From the picture above, and the dimensions of the block you've described, it would appear to be about 1 inch wide. |

Sort of a shame to see beta cloth patches taken apart. |

I admit that this looks impressive, but am I the only one who thinks a picture of the LEM is a bit mis-leading? Not a big deal, but my initial look made me think it was surface flown. Also, maybe a small inset of the full patch.I'm still adding my name to the mailing list, though. |

We didnt take the decision likely. But we bought a large number of Apollo 14 Flown Beta Patches sealed in a pack. All the patches were 9" x 9" square, however the last Beta patch in the pack was cropped at the top in a crude diagonal way, so it was this patch that was the donor for the acrylics. We are also getting about 10 times more interest in the acrylics than with the complete patches |

The reason for using the background is a few posts up. So that it was not misleading we did write clearly in the text within the acrylic that the beta cloth was flown in the Command Module. There will be a photo of the original cloth on the numbered COAs, rather than in the acrylic itself. We wanted the acrylic to be beautiful, simple, and not cluttered. Thanks for joining the list! |

There is more interest in the acrylic than the patch simply because the acrylic is 10% of the cost of the whole patch. I assume most of us have $200 to spend on a flown item encased in acrylic but do not have $2000 to spend on a larger, nicer, complete item. The acrylic looks impressive and am debating whether or not I should get it. Problem is it would be a big departure from my 'only pieces of spacecraft in acrylics' rule I have. |

Perhaps it is more of a guideline than a rule? |

Well I for one think it looks great and I don't think the only reason it is getting a lot of interest is the price. Some people don't collect Beta cloth. I personally have never been that interested and have focused on other items. However, some people DO collect acrylics and over the last year or so several nice acrylics have come out. It makes for a good collectible and I think this one is really nice. |

The Apollo 14 acrylics are now on sale!We had a huge response from our mailing list, already selling a third of the acrylics. Most people ordering acrylics where the segment of patch had part of the Apollo 14 Emblem on it. So we now only have a very small number of those left. Otherwise there are mainly the plain white segments remaining. |

I bought one of the acrylics that has the Apollo 14 emblem in the artifact of Beta cloth. I like the size of the artifact, the overall size of the acrylic and the 'mini' panorama used as a background for the artifact. Looking forward to seeing it in-person and for future acrylics from Moonpans. |

Mike, do you have any left with the emblem on it? Also do these come from the UK? |

Apart from a couple of Emblem pieces that arent straight, we now only have the white pieces remaining. Personally I think the white pieces stand out much better from the background and look much cleaner than the Emblem pieces! All the acrylics ship from the UK |

Received my Apollo 14 Beta Cloth acrylic from Moonpans today and it looks great.Kudos to Mike for providing the collecting community with such a great looking acrylic that has a good size piece of the flown Beta Cloth emblem. And the Apollo 14 mini-panorama looks great as well. Looking forward to future acrylics from Moonpans. |

Now available, the next in this series:Apollo 16 Flown Parachute Acrylic
This Apollo 16 Parachute acrylic is made from the same high quality acrylic as the Apollo 14 version and has the same dimensions (7" x 3" x 1.5"). The segment of parachute measures 1.2 inches wide at the base and .5 inches high The main difference with this one is that it has a much smaller run at only 40 pieces, a 3rd of which have already sold to Moonpans Mailing List Members. It is now available to purchase along with several other items on our Apollo Flown Items Page

That segment of parachute looks quite difficult to pick out from the photos. Perhaps the actual display is easier? |

The parachute piece is easier to see in person, it all depends on the lighting. In the photographs I couldn't use much frontal lighting as it reflected off the acrylic into the camera. The close up shot shows a better view of how the piece looks in person The parachute material is quite transparent when inside the acrylic and in many ways this makes it quite an interesting display |
