As we approach the 40th anniversary of Skylab, I am making major updates to the Farthest Reaches' Ed Gibson Artifacts page.

I am adding a slew of hand signed covers from Ed's personal collection not previously posted included Apollo 11 (authentically hand signed by Armstrong/Collins with Aldrin autopen), Apollo 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17 crew signed, Skylab SL3 & SL4 crew signed, hand signed SMEAT and more.

I will also be adding a number of Ed's hand signed Skylab training cue cards, patches from his collection, many vintage hand signed Skylab photos including crew signed photos and the list goes on.

I anticipate publishing this updated page sometime this week or by this weekend at latest and will make the announcement on collectSPACE when it it's up and running.

In the meantime, should you have any specific requests, feel free to shoot me an email and I'll see what I can do to help you out. The updated page will be accessible by mousing over Astro Offerings from my home page navigation buttons and selecting Ed Gibson. Please note what is there now is NOT the updated page.

Thanks as always for your continued support.

I have received a number of similar offline requests to send scans of multiple items which is becoming a bit overwhelming. As much as I'd like to respond to everyone, in the interest of time management for me and to be as fair as possible, I will publish as much of Ed's updated page as I've been able to revise on Friday June 28 at 6PM Pacific Time.

It will include 100+ items including covers, some flown items (which by the way are already posted), some training checklists, signed vintage photos including crew signed and other items as well. It will not be complete as I will continue to add items over the weekend but there will be plenty to choose from.

By the way, please check out the flown Snoopy metal backed decals. These are rare and in my opinion highly desirable, particularly for anyone interested in Snoopy related flown items and priced very reasonably so as to not break the bank. Best of all, it's an intact item that actually had a function on board the Skylab Space Station. My supply of these is very limited as you can imagine and each comes with a letter of provenance from Ed Gibson. These recently received a mention in the May 18th issue of the "Financial Times: Travel Unravelled" National Colour Supplement Of The Year Edition.

Thanks to all for your continued support...

Yes, it's always nice to have your wallet ready and standing by (lol) but think you'll find many of these items very reasonably priced and with provenance so iron clad making them even more desirable particularly as its getting more and more difficult to obtain such items directly from the astronauts themselves.

Some of Ed's vintage signed photos are awesome and will not be over priced despite them being vintage with many red stamped issues. Training checklists will be in the $250 range and many other items I've not even mentioned will be added. Still, for Friday, I'm focusing on providing a strong selection of the best of the signed covers that are available, signed vintage photos, the checklists and updating the flown items to reflect what is currently available but there is so much more that new items will need to be added over the days and weeks.

You know me Steve, I am interested in anything flown. That said, I have my eye on a piece. I am currently working out the finances for that, as well as other items on your site.

Sometimes this hobby is similar to watching a hunk of meat thrown in a shark tank.

I would tend to agree but my frustrations about the shark tank lean more toward what I think is the abundance of material being sold via the auction format. That's what comes to mind when I think of the term "shark tank" and is the reason I've maintained a fixed price methodology over the years. I feel its not only worked for Farthest Reaches but has been very appreciated by most who use it as they also tire of having to duke it out for every item from small to large that they seek to add to their collections.

A vintage NASA tie tac worth $10 bucks at best with an opening of bid of .99 for a 10 day auction... really? The "Walls Of Shame" aka "???" selling a Scott Carpenter autograph through auction for $750 and proclaiming how they are the most reputable seller in the business and telling us how we need to watch out for those other unscrupulous dealers and sellers out there who will take advantage of you? Really?

I could go on as there is much more to my thinking on this issue than the few points I've made above but not now, not in this thread. Besides, it doesn't really matter in the big picture because the collecting culture in the world today revolves all around auctions, so that's just the way it is. Still I believe that there's room for us all and that there ARE ups and downs associated with both methodologies.

By the way, Greggy_D, in case you were wondering, there was absolutely nothing wrong or inaccurate with your post and mean no malice to you by mine, but the "shark tank" has always been a sore point with me and just couldn't help venting. Just a chance for me to express my own two cents.

Ed Gibson's artifact page has now been re-launched with loads of new items. Please visit to browse or order. Most items are "one of" so don't delay if something strikes your fancy.

You may access the Ed Gibson Artifact page by visiting Farthest Reaches and mousing over, "Astro Offerings".

Thanks for your continued support...

I've been trying since yesterday evening to connect to the site with no success. Apparently a problem with DNS.

I have to say that over the last few years I've never had problem connecting to any website in the world except Farthest Reaches which regularly seems to have problems.

I don't know whether it's a quirk of the hosting service used, the DNS provider chosen, or something else entirely, but it's certainly frustrating.

Contact Steve about your matter, he is very helpful and will be able to help you. I was having problems in the past but Steve fixed the issue I was having.

That said, I can only connect via a computer but can not connect via a iPad or any other mobile device.

I'm sorry you're having access problems. My server is exceptionally secure with protocols in place that will occasionally place a block on some IP addresses. This is what I believe is happening and should have it cleared promptly so stand by. I do take these sorts of issues very seriously.

My IT manager says your IP should be cleared from our blocked list. Give it a try and get back to me please.

With regard to iPads and iPhones, my site was built with flash and Apple iPads and iPhones will not support it. You can still get to my individual pages if you're using direct web addresses but the front page navigation buttons are not visible to anyone using those devices. The "fix" would involve a total redesign of my site, which is not cost effective.

Thanks to everyone and enjoy the updated Ed Gibson page. Even more new items will be added shortly...
