Just curious - why would they fly a map of the Panama Canal? Seems like if they landed in it the instructions would be to swim to the nearest shore and wait?

Was it a PPK item for someone?

My understanding is that the crew was provided with certain Earth maps as reference to enable them to recognize/approximate their location should they have had to splash down in an unplanned recovery area.
