I am looking to sell my Gemini GT-3 Cover, canceled on the receiving ship USS Intrepid. Autographed by both Gus Grissom and John Young. Not autopens. Check astroautopens.com. These signatures and not on the autopen lists. Price is $1,500.00. Email me at Gregory.J.Chase@gmail.com
Three covers have sold in the past 8 years at auction for $1500-$2750. They are: - Regency-Superior April 26, 2006 Lot 684 – GT-3 Gus Grissom and John Young Cover Autographs $2500
- Aurora - Oct 15, 2005 Lot 146 GT-3 Gus Grissom and John Young Dual Autographs $2750
- Aurora - April 14, 2007 Lot 299 GT-1 Gus Grissom and John Young Autographs $1500

Sorry, but both signatures are autopens. |

How did you come to that conclusion? The starting "G" in Gus is completely different than either autopen signature at astroautopens.com. The "G" in Grissom loop is different and the length of the signature is different. Are you an authority in signature authentication? Further, I have a twin cover to this one. Look at the length of the Grissom signatures. What do you think now? |

Autopen machines can be bumped, which would cause the anomaly seen in the first G. Other than that, the Grissom and Young signatures on both covers appear identical. |

To add to what has been said, the person operating the autopen machine could affect the look of the resulting signature through a number of methods, including inadvertently bumping or shaking the device, but also the speed at which the item being signed was pulled through the machine. A slower rate resulted in a longer length signature. |

I most certainly am not an authority on signature authentication, but the Grissom signatures are the most common autopen example around and jumped out at me immediately. The anomaly on the first cover is an obvious issue with the machine as explained previously. The length of the autopen is simply a matter of different placement on the cover... with the exception of the deformed "Gus", the two are the same. The Young signatures are a less often seen autopen, but they are unmistakably identical to each other |

Sorry for your bad news Gregory. It's better to get this information here then from a disgruntled buyer. This is why collectSPACE is so valuable to our collecting community, for both buyers and sellers. |

These may be autopens, but I am sure there is still a decent amount of value here. Can anyone offer a ballpark figure of what these two autopens on this cover would go for? Just curious. |

Thanks everyone for your help. I have quite a few autographs. What a shame to find out something is not authentic when you thought for years it was. Jim, how did you do that autograph overlay? |

I open the image in a photo imaging application (photoshop, elements, etc), duplicate the image onto another layer, make the top layer 50% transparent and slide the signatures into place over bottom layer.

I really don't know how much to ask for an autopen cover. Can anyone help with a value? |

Some nice, clean GT-3 Prime Recovery ship covers sell for $25 and up.You could start it at .99 on eBay and see what the market for this cover would be. |
