This is a very limited coin made for NASA by Pratt and Whitney Rocketdyne, the company that made the Space Shuttle Main Engines (SSMEs), and contains metal from a SSME that flew on 17 missions from March 13, 1989 through July 27, 1999 for a total of 66.3 million miles and 2,571 revolutions! The front of the coin shows a Shuttle lifting off with the names of the 5 Shuttles and the words "Made for NASA by Pratt and Whitney Rocketdyne". The back shows a Shuttle Main Engine with the words "This coin contains metal flown aboard a Space Shuttle mission." Also included is a copy of the NASA information card that certifies the flight status of the metal and lists the 17 Shuttle missions that the engine flew on. Another coin, that was made from shavings from a non-flown test engine, recently sold on ebay for $262.17 (item # 290816161423). I am asking $145.00, and this coin contains metal from an engine that was FLOWN 17 times. I have only two of these coins so if you are interested in one please let me know and I will hold it for you.
