Purchased at auction years ago. Blue NASA flight suit, worn by astronaut Michael Baker during the STS-68 mission. All patches have been removed, except for an American flag patch on the left upper sleeve. The outline of the STS-68 patch can still be seen on the front right chest. Can be seen here. Asking $450.00 plus shipping. Thanks for looking.

Worn during the mission, or just worn by Michael Baker during training/public appearances around the time of the mission? I believe flight suits aren't carried along on the actual missions (or at the very least, I've never seen them worn in-flight).

Per NASA, the flight suits were not packed aboard the shuttle. The crew leaves them behind in crew quarters before changing into their pressure suits for launch and then the suits were brought out to them to change back into after landing.

Seems a little odd to me that it's lacking the mission patch and really odd that it doesn't at the very least have the NASA vector patch...

The suit in Robert's collection had the patches removed before it was disposed of by NASA.

Ah. That makes sense. All the suits I've ever seen were ones the astronauts kept which of course still had all the patches.

It depends on lighting and quality of the camera and how tightly they were sewn in place. You could request additional photos.

If this is the same suit James Brown tried to sell in an earlier post, it also has a name written on the tag.

The name M. Baker is written on the inside tag. Not flown in space, but surely on t-38 flights. All patches were removed before suits were disposed of.

How about $400.00, plus shipping for the suit? Final call.

This is a good deal. I have an actual blue flight suit and they are real cool to have. Put it on a manniquin, add some patches and you will have an awesome display piece. Well worth the $400.

As long as it's for legitimate purposes, you can also get a reproduction nametag made by Gibson & Barnes. For example, I put together a display of a replica of Rick Husband's flight suit for a local museum. Very cool to have indeed.

To make a good mannequin display, you just need a 3" NASA meatball, a 3x5" US flag patch (this already has one), a replica nametag, mission patches (optional), a replica Mach 25 patch (optional), and a pair of flight boots (my display has FWU-3/p boots as these were the kind worn by Rick Husband).

If I had the money, I'd certainly buy it.

Also worth noting, this looks like an older flight suit (late 80s to mid 90s), different from the current Gibson & Barnes suits. Note that it also has velcro strips sewn onto the right thigh, a feature that's similar to the launch and entry flight suits worn in the 80s. I've only seen a few photos of flight suits with that feature.
