One of a kind "flown" space monkey!

Here is your opportunity to be the proud owner of an actual monkey that was flown in space aboard the January 24th 1993 Soyuz TM-16 mission to the Mir space station. It was carried aboard by cosmonaut Alexander Poleshchuk and used as an "indicator of gravity.

Said toy monkey had a string fastened to his head android said string was fastened to the instrument panel At the time of transition in to space the monkey would float alerting the crew condition "were out of the earth's magnetic field and the beginning of cosmic condition" (weightlesness).

This cute monkey was purchased from Alex Panchenko who was friends with Alexander Poleshuk and comes with a handwritten signed letter from cosmonaut Poleshcuk, a photo of him signing the monkey's feet, and another photo of it dangling from the string being held by cosmonaut Poleshchuk.

This is truly a unique piece and a must have for anyone who loved astochimps Ham and Enos I am asking $500 for it plus shipping and insurance. If interested please contact me off line at rickdboos@gmail.com. Scans sent upon request.

"were out of the earth's magnetic field and the beginning of cosmic condition" (weightlesness).
What's magnetism got to do with weightlessness? Surely a cosmonaut would understand gravity and the concept of free-fall?

Rick, I'll buy it. I remember this piece. I think it is a hoot.

Send me a direct email and we can wrap up the deal.

Thanks Larry, I have sent you an e-mail. As for the other guy's comment that was a exact quote from the cosmonaut's hand written letter... take it up with him!!!

'The other guy...'
Rick: unlike lots of posters, I use my actual name on here (as do you)
It wouldn't have hurt you to have used it! I made a valid point: and yes, I realised it was 'the cosmonaut's own words'. I'd have to say, I find it almost unbelievable that a real cosmonaut would make such a schoolboy gaffe....

David - maybe this gaffe was due to the translation from Russian? Or maybe it was the monkey who got confused between magnetism and weightlessness!

Rick, do you have a photo of this monkey that you could post? I'm just curious what it looks like.
