If you're in the Kansas City, Missouri area, I will be in conversation with Dr. Charles Bourland on Saturday, August 10, at the Linda Hall Library of Science, Engineering & Technology. It's a free program open to the public.Dr. Bourland began work at the NASA in 1969 and he was involved in food development for Project Apollo, where he was responsible for astronaut food aboard the recovery ships for Apollos 12 and 13 and Skylab II. He later helped to develop food and packages for Apollo-Soyuz, Skylab, Shuttle, Shuttle/Mir, and the International Space Station. The Library also has on view the exhibition, To the Moon: The Science of Apollo. I hope to see you there! |

Very interesting subject to me - I wish I could be there. Any chance this interview will be recorded and made available on YouTube? If possible, could you pose a question to him on my behalf? I would like to know if they documented the recipes as well as the specific preservation processes for each of the Gemini/Apollo/Skylab food items. Thank you in advance. | |
