Shuttle astronaut and Stanford Alumna Tamara Jernigan spoke Friday afternoon (Oct. 26) at the Stanford on the Moon conference at Stanford University. Dr. Jernigan discussed the future on manned space flight, showed a video of her flight on STS-96 in 1999, and hosted a Q&A session. Following her presentation, Kai Marshland, co-president of the Stanford student space initiative, spoke about the plans for the students of the Stanford physics department to launch a sounding rocket into space during 2019.

Afterwards, Dr. Jernigan opened the Stanford on the Moon Lunar Exhibit in the lobby of the Varian Physics Building at Stanford.

The Stanford On the Moon Lunar Exhibit honors eight Stanford women astronauts & asks, "Will the first woman on the moon be a Stanford graduate?"

All times are CT (US)
