John Travolta, quoted from the cS news report: I was in Lexington, Kentucky. My girlfriend and I were doing summer theater as apprentices — we were 15 years old — and I remember the TV was on in the motel room," Travolta recounted in a video he recorded for last year's 45th anniversary of the moon landing. "I remember feeling a remarkable change, not just in history, but in aerospace and aviation." Buzz Aldrin, from his book Magnificent Desolation: "I've often wondered why it is, to this day, that people feel compelled to tell me where they were the moment when we first landed on the moon. Of course, I pause, and with a twinkle in my eye, I pull out my little black book and thank them, often adding, 'Well, I'm trying to keep track of where everyone was!'" Does anybody, including Buzz, really care who or what Travolta was doing or thinking 46 years ago? |

Last year, Aldrin invited everyone — including a good number of celebrities — to record and post videos to YouTube describing where they were for the Apollo 11 moon landing. Travolta's reply, as quoted in our article, was as part of that effort. |

Yes, but did you notice the merry twinkle in his eye as he was making his appeal? |

I think this goes back to Buzz' statement to Neil Armstrong when they returned from the mission. They saw the reaction that the world had to experiencing the thrill of watching the first steps on another planetary body, and Buzz remarked to Neil, "We missed the whole thing," meaning that they were "out of town" when this amazing shared experience happened. Here is a link to an interview from 2009. |

Green has always been fascinated by space travel and has done a PSA for NASA, moderated NASA's first San Diego Comic-Con panel and designed the current CASIS current patch for the 2015 ISS U.S. National Laboratory missions for research to benefit life on Earth. "Seth's wittiness, professionalism and love for the space program made him the perfect choice for moderating the program portion of our gala this July with Buzz and John," said SSF Executive Director Linn LeBlanc. "Raised by an artist and math teacher, Seth knows firsthand the importance of STEAM and SSF's mission." Anchored on Aldrin's Apollo 11 mission anniversary, the black tie affair will both celebrate the first moon landing and kick-off SSF's initiative igniting the spark in children for science, technology, engineering, math AND arts, so that young people may develop a lifelong, life-changing love for, and potentially a career in these fields. A very limited number of tickets and corporate sponsorships are still available and may be secured at sharespace.org/ssf-gala or by calling 321-783-6836.
