European Space Agency (ESA) release
Space exploration debuting at Dublin Fringe Festival

An exciting new show, To Space, arrives at the Dublin Fringe Festival on Monday 8 September and runs until Sunday 14 Sept.

Dr. Niamh Shaw, an actor, scientist and comedian who is the 2014 Artist in Residence at Blackrock Castle Observatory, Cork, set herself a task in January 2014 to go To SPACE by whatever means possible. Meeting with fellow space enthusiasts, a former astronaut, space tourists and making trips to the European Space Agency in the Netherlands and NASA, she recounts her personal experiences and shares what she has learned along the way in this human, and informative show about the dreams we had as children, the future of Space exploration on our world view and society as a whole.

To SPACE... is a highly engaging show, incorporating popular science topics about Space exploration, presented in an informal, lecture/performance context, using personal stories, highly visual interactive multimedia and engages with the audience on many sensory levels, so that they are entertained as they also learn via a deeply human narrative.

During her research and preparations for the show, Dr. Shaw visited ESA's technical heart, ESTEC, in the Netherlands and met with ESA experts. She was also granted access to the Erasmus Centre at ESTEC to film and gain inspiration for her project.

The show will travel from Dublin to Cheltenham Science Festival UK, World Science Festival New York, Edinburgh Festival in 2015

To Space can be seen at the Science Gallery Dublin on Monday 8 September and from Wednesday 10 to Sunday 14 September. For further information on times and tickets, click here.
