We are proud to announce that Dr. Ed Mitchell, Apollo 14 astronaut and sixth man to walk on the Moon, will join us at Space Expo in Noordwijk, NL, on 5 July. This is a rare opportunity in Europe to meet Dr Mitchell, a living legend in space history and a true space hero. Dr Mitchell will give a talk at 3 p.m. |

He will probably not sign, as was the case with Duke, and Worden...But I if he does, it might be that you have to pay €€€€ for it...I will be there so I hope for a good photo op.

I am looking at going to this presentation. Which is the best airport for people from the UK to arrive at? Is the venue far from the airport? Thinking of treating myself... Thanks. |

Schiphol is the nearest airport (about 30 minutes by car/taxi to Noordwijk).Pretty much the same directions to follow as for ESA ESTEC. |

I thoroughly enjoyed Edgar Mitchell's lecture this afternoon! He told us about his life leading up to becoming an astronaut and then about Apollo 14 itself, aided by slides. It will never cease to amaze me to see these mission photographs and realize that that very same guy in the space suit is sitting and talking right there in front of me.Hats off to all those who made it possible, in particular Carl Walker, who introduced Mitchell by sharing with us the role Mitchell played in his chosen career path. As far as I could tell, the event attracted an audience from all our neighboring countries and deservedly so! As I left the Space Expo I could see a half moon rising from above some clouds... |

Thanks for your kind words BA002, glad you enjoyed it. Ed said he enjoyed coming to the Netherlands too, and thanks all who attended. It was a special day for all of us in the room. Some pics will follow. |

Just saw some great photos by Danny Van Hoecke (Euro Space Society) of Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar Mitchell autographing the now famous table top which sits in the cafeteria of Space Expo (signatures under a glass plate). |
