I attended the Fred Haise lecture "Failure is Not An Option" at the Kirkland Fine Arts Center in Decatur, IL tonight. It was great as the lecture was very entertaining and he answered questions afterward.

I'm also going to nominate Haise for sainthood as he came out afterwards and signed autographs and posed for photos. I got a book and a helmet signed and he even wrote "Aquarius - our life saver!" on my helmet! All this was free too. He was polite and patient with everyone. A great night with a great guy.

I'd have to agree - Fred Haise is one of the nicest people you could hope to meet.I was truly humbled by the experience.

He signed and posed for photos for at least an hour afterwards. I really didn't think he would sign at the event because let's face it, the thought of these guys signing for an hour for free in 2014 is pretty far fetched. But that's what he did. I'm glad I brought my just in case items with me.

All times are CT (US)
