Sorry for the late post, but on February 7th astronaut Douglas Wheelock was at the Challenger Learning Center at Heartland Community College in Nornmal, Illinois. I had the opportunity to attend this event thank to a fellow collectSPACE member who informed me of the event — thank you, Brad.

The event went very well and astronaut Wheelock answered all questions and I was able to get a couple of items autographed. There was about 100 people that attended the event.

Astronaut Wheelock and I talked about his Expedition 25 patch and that he had very kind comments about Tim Gagnon! Of course, I also talked about the collectSPACE website with a few other people as well.

Hello all, new poster here.

It was a great event! Doug's presentation was very nice - he's really good at story telling. I was most impressed with how he was willing take as much time as necessary to make sure that he had seen everyone who wanted to get an autograph (or multiples), take pictures with him, and answer all questions.

I've been communicating with him via Twitter since last summer, and was planning to try to meet him in Houston on my next trip to Texas, but since Normal Illinois is only about a 90-minute drive from my home, that meeting came early. My main intent was to have my 7 year-old son meet him.

I ran into a member of collectSPACE when we were walking up the stairs to the auditorium (didn't get his name). He asked me where I had gotten the photos that I brought with me. Just to clarify my response to him, in case he's reading this, I downloaded them from spaceflight.nasa.gov/gallery and had them printed as 8x10's at Walgreens.

I know Doug has an appearance coming up on March 8th - if you get a chance to go see him, take advantage of it!

Dave, thanks for responding. It was nice to meet you and your son at the event.
Hopefully we can meet at more events as well.

Yes, I was the person that talked to you about collectSPACE and the photos.
