This event marks another successful year of the museum incorporating the Smithsonian Institution's membership as part of its program. The museum became a Smithsonian Affiliate in summer of 2011 and just one year later announced its new membership program including the Smithsonian. This new program not only extends individual, family, and corporate membership to the Stafford Museum, it offers an exclusive membership to the Smithsonian. One special benefit of the two-in-one membership package is the opportunity to visit other Smithsonian Affiliate museums at discounted admission prices. There are 181 affiliates currently in the United States and only three are in Oklahoma. The Stafford Air and Space Museum is the only affiliate in western Oklahoma.
