Saturday, October 20th, 2012 sees the visit of Charlie Duke to Pontefract, West Yorkshire. The visit will comprise of two events: - Lunchtime with Charlie. Saturday afternoon meal. Tickets cost £60. Cheques made out to Ken Willoughby. Please include stamped addressed envelope (SAE). There will be a professional photo shoot for an additional £20.
It is hoped Charlie will sign these photos after the meal but this has yet to be finalized. I think Ken will also be holding a modest auction of space related memorabilia following the meal. - Charlie will then be giving a public talk in the evening. Tickets cost £30. Payment by cheque to "Apollo 13". During the course of the evening Charlie will sign one autograph for free. Extra signatures will be for a fee yet to be determined.
There will also be a professional photo opportunity with photos costing £20. Ken has been working on this for quite some time but I held off posting the details until it was definitely on. This event is "GO", so you know what to do. Please send payments to; Ken Willoughby FBIS, FRAS. 11 Hardistry Drive, Pontefract, West Yorkshire. WF8 4BU. Urgent enquiries can be made at: 01977 795535 More details to follow... as I get them. |

Rick, this is great news isn't it? Hopefully there will be a stampede for the remaining tickets. I must send Ken an unexpired cheque as soon as I get back.Is it worth highlighting that those who sent cheques way, way back may have to send new ones as they have probably time expired? See you in October. |

This is great news from Ken! We all need to give him our full support and spread the news of the Charlie Duke visit.A positive response here will ensure future events. I have been to several of them previously and they have always been top class. Did you know there is also a twitter account, see @space_lectures and join the growing number of followers. |

It certainly is given the disappointment of Jack! Lots of people would have thrown the towel in after all the let downs he has had. I for one will certainly be attending! |

I received an email from Ken saying that the meal is now a 'No Go'? |

I received an e-mail from Ken stating the opposite. Somebody is either pulling your leg or has more sinister intentions; to undermine Ken's efforts.May I take this opportunity to reiterate that the meal is most definitely ON!. An auction of memorabilia will follow the meal. |

Ah, his email said it was off due to the sponsors pulling out but he has today verified that it is on. It must have been a temporary thing?Either way, I'm extremely grateful that is is now a 'Go'!! |

I supect Buel's issues may have been down to crossed wires or delayed mail. Everything is GO at this time.Ken has had support from local radio this time round and there continues to be consistent demand for tickets as a result. Typically, the closer the event the greater the demand for tickets so it would make sense to get those orders in for the remaining places asap. The sad loss of Neil Armstrong serves as a painful reminder that such opportunities must be taken whenever possible. |

Has it, or will it be advertised in the local press too? I'm sure a few free tickets would replace any advertising fees? |

I'll check with Ken on that score. The local TV guys usually get involved though. |

Ticket arrived this morning. Looking forward to another great show from the heart of Yorkshire.I've got Charlie's autograph (for both my girls) from past UK visits. My mate little lad is 9 years old the Saturday after the show, I've got a nice luna EVA photo to be signed for his birthday... |

It is my understanding that Charlie will sign pretty well anything. Whether it is a photo, his book or a cover, one free autograph is included in the price of the ticket. |

Yep, my tickets have arrived too. Looking forward to this event. It is worth remembering that if you want a professional photo (£20) then I believe you need to arrive at 5pm. |

Not long to go now ladies and gentlemen.Whilst wondering what I should take along to have Charlie sign I was struggling to think of something unusual or particularly interesting. I'd be interested to hear other people's choices. |

Yes I'm struggling too Rick as I've already had a couple of photos signed last time. I might get hold of an Apollo 16 acrylic or model or Moon globe? |

To underpin what Rick has said, tickets are selling very fast. Space lectures Twitter page has been very active culminating in much interest in this event. You can follow on @space_lectures |

Ken has told me tickets are almost sold for the dinner. There are a number of tickets still available for the lecture which constitutes great value for money alongside a free autograph from Charlie. Let's all get behind Ken and get the last remaining tickets sold which will give confidence for the next exciting event. |

We are only a week away from the events and only a few tickets remain for both the lunch and the evening lecture. For those of us who have not decided please note there are only 8 of our hero's left who have walked on another celestial body and this is a great opportunity to meet, talk and listen to the incredible story.Let us all make a effort and make the event a sell out and give Ken the confidence to plan for the next event. |

I have just had a look at the new Carleton school building (I am staying with family in North Featherstone) and it is very impressive. I have also heard that tickets are selling very well for Charlie Duke's talk. This is not surprising, all the events I have attended in Pontefract have been excellent! |

With only a few days remaining it might be an idea for anybody snapping up the remaining tickets to send payment asap and arrange collection from Ken on the day rather than trust them to the post. Just an idea |

Talking about seats remaining - I still have seats available on the sofa for Rick's lecture on antique RCS engines the day after Charlie's talk.Bearing in mind that the Rolling Stones are going to charge £1000 for a front row seat at their 50th anniversary gig I think my charge of the same plus refreshments (cold water fresh from the tap and a dried crust) is more than reasonable. |

Every time I have attended one of Ken's events were professional photos have been taken, the finished photos have been made available for the guest to sign after the meal or following the lecture.I don't recall Ken having a problem with photos during the talk but it would be an idea to check with him before hand. |

As for tickets, I think the meal is now down to single figures. I think you should be okay for the public lecture but contact Ken asap to avoid any disappointment. The event is developing a momentum of its own the closer it gets. |

Ken is taking steps to insure that the venue will remain open as long as necessary after the public lecture for everybody to get an autograph. If anybody is stuck for something to get signed I know Nick and Bryar Deakin will be on hand with a load of Chalie Duke goodies. |
