On November 18, the Olympia (WA) Film Festival will screen, "The Right Stuff" with the director present.

This would make for a good weekend of visiting the Museum of Flight which isn't that far North of Olympia if you're not in the area already.

More info and tickets can be ordered here.

It would be incredible seeing it on the big screen after seeing it many times VHS on our tv.

If you live in the area, treat yourself.

Yes, I'd love to see it in a theater again. The movie's characterizations and narrative, as well as its fidelity to the spirit of Wolfe's book, have been (deservedly) controversial in our circles over the years.

But as an exercise in film-making, the screen adaptation of The Right Stuff was both a technical tour de force and a showcase of powerful performances from a number of terrific actors. And, coming from the pre-CGI era, its visual execution is still remarkably compelling today.
