The phrase which springs to mind is "tempting fate." I will be cringing in front of the TV in my hotel bedroom. |

Well, NASA did manage to 'bounce down' a spacecraft wrapped in airbags a while back, remember how crazy we all thought that was? And they did it twice! |

Three times, actually (don't forget Mars Pathfinder) and I was cringing in front of my TV for all of them. Same for Beagle 2, and in that case the cringing was justified. I suppose holding a pre-landing party gives you immediate access to the means of "drowning your sorrows" if things go wrong, but for me it will be pre-breakfast, and that option won't exist! |
