The crew of STS-135 is scheduled to appear at the National Air and Space Museum on the same day as the Tweetup event. While that Tweetup event is just Chris Ferguson and Sandy Magnus, this looks like it includes Doug Hurley and Rex Walheim.

A question for those who have attended other shuttle crew events at the museum: I have an art print of STS-135 liftoff that I would love to get signed. Would this event present such an opportunity, or would it be unlikely? Thanks in advanceā€¦

It's hard to say. Previous events held by the STS-135 crew in New York offered an opportunity for autographs. However, it seems that recent astronaut events at NASM did not.

Crew was whisked away within seconds after finishing.

Excellent presentation.

I had hoped to meet Rex Walheim at this event.

Yup, no autographs. The crew mentioned they haven't decided what they'll be doing, because they're wrapped up in their post-flight tour. They have one month or so left, and then perhaps individual appearances. Ferguson mentioned he'd like to teach.

Ferguson also mentioned that kids asked the hardest questions. "How does the Earth go around the sun?" The crew looked at each other, and Walheim took it, explaining the sun's gravitational pull kept the Earth in orbit.

Other hard q's: "What is NASA doing right now?" "What is the moon like?"

Ferguson succinctly answered that one: "Dusty."

Thanks for the first-hand reports. I ended up being unable to attend, but at least I know I did not miss an opportunity to get the print signed. Chris is great with kid questions - at the Franklin Institute last week one side of the room was all adult questions, while the other was all kids. I think he enjoyed the kid questions the most...
