Many thanks for posting this news. Now hubby and myself can plan ahead during our visits to Florida and KSC, who to have lunch with and enjoy their company.

I looked for this a couple of weeks ago. Thanks for pointing it out. I'll be in Florida at the same time as Story Musgrave is at Astronaut Encounter - excellent!

What an awesome lineup!

I look forward to my AHOF Induction (I'm not being inducted) trip and possibly another visit this year.

Does anyone know why there are two astronauts scheduled per day at KSCVC through Sept. 7?

Are both appearing together at the Astronaut Encounter and 'Dine with' functions or are other events going on?

Once again, the Sightings calendar has been updated with the 2010 schedule for Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex's Astronaut Encounter.

This upcoming year, 24 astronauts will appear at the Visitor Complex. New to the Encounter in 2010 are Barbara Morgan, Scott Parazynski and James Reilly.

Looking forward to meeting James Reilly on St. Patricks week. We are heading back to Brevard County for STS-131. On each one of James' trips he carried aloft a flag of Ireland and the house that his grandfather lived in Co Cork still stands. Who knows we might even meet him some night at John Nolan's Irish bar in Cocoa beach one of the nights.

I would like to get Gerald Carr's autograph on a print I have and was thinking of heading down to KSC to catch him at an Astronaut Encounter event next week. Does anybody know if the astronauts will sign at these events?

I was there a couple of years ago when John Blaha was the astronaut present, and an announcement was made that he would NOT be signing autographs, but would gladly pose for pictures with the attendees. I don't know if that's standard policy, or particular to each astronaut.

For at least the past year or so, most Astronaut Encounter guests now have scheduled free autograph sessions in the Visitor Complex's gift shop following their appearances. That may not apply to all astronauts though (some may charge, some may only sign their book, some many not sign, etc.) and I would advise calling the Complex first if getting something signed is paramount to your making the trip.

At the end of last year they were signing at the gift shop as Robert stated, but only late in the day. I think it was at 4:30PM.

While visiting last year in November I noticed that the Astronauts involved in the encounters would later sign between 4.45-5.30 plus the other thing I noticed is that on the day of the launch of STS-129 we had lunch with Fred Gregory but unlike previous occasions there were none of the free autographs they hand out, is this a new thing?

Also on occasion, astronauts may be signing the day BEFORE their appearance as happened to me when I ran into Jon McBride last year in April in the gift store on my way out. If I had known that in advance I would have brought something special to sign -- got my bus tour guide signed instead!

They no longer give out an autographed photo with the dine with the astronaut package.

Lots of people in the room but when I did it there was a good talk and then pictures afterward; not rushed and plenty of time to talk a bit. I'd do it again.

Sam Gemar gave an excellent talk two weeks ago when I was at astronaut encounter. I highly recommend listening to Sam.

I'm heading over to Florida at the end of the month for a week and hope to meet John Blaha at the Astronaut Encounter. Does anyone have any experiences of his willingness to sign items?

And will his portrait NASA litho be provided or do you have to bring your own item for signing?

Blaha was the featured speaker when I went to the Astronaut Encounter a few years ago. An announcement was made that there would be no autographs, but that he would gladly pose for pictures.

The last time I was there, which was earlier this year, they had a new "event". Late in the day I think around 4:30-5PM you could meet the featured astronaut in the Space Shop. The astronaut would sign anything you bring, also the Space Shop sold photos and items as well. It is a great time to meet the astronaut as well as get a photo taken. Here is the link to the contact page for the Visitor Center you may want to call and verify my info.

I was a little suprised last year during the ASF show, when I took a break and wondered over to the gift shop and found Mark Lee signing autographs.
