For those of you in Northeast Ohio, you are cordially invited to attend the first meeting of the Space Exploration Academy.The Space Exploration Academy is dedicated to building an understanding and appreciation of space exploration. It is an organization of space professionals and supporters whose purpose is to: - promote understanding of how space exploration benefits Humanity by learning how technologies developed for space exploration benefit life on Earth
- enhance the understanding and appreciation of science, math and engineering
- begin the education process needed for Humanity to begin its journey from Earth into the Universe
The Activities of the Space Exploration Academy will include: - Q&A sessions
- Presentations on topics like:
- The Benefits of Space Exploration
- Space Exploration: Past, Present and Future
- Space Exploration Careers
- Hands-on Activities:
- Space Exploration Jeopardy!
- How Engineers Work
- Family field trips:
- Tours of the NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland and NASA's Plum Brook Station in Sandusky
- Ohio Science Museums
- Free tutoring in math and science for elementary, middle school, and high school students
The first meeting of the Space Exploration Academy will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, August 20, 2009 at the North Ridgeville Branch of the Lorain Public Library, 35700 Bainbridge Road, North Ridgeville, OH 44039.The first meeting will discuss the Academy's purpose and goals, in general, and will discuss how space exploration benefits life on Earth. ------------------ Jeff | |
