This from the Central NJ Area Rocketry Society NAR#698 website: On September 26th from 1-5pm, CENJARS, will be participating with the Monmouth County Library System (125 Symmes Road, Manalapan, NJ) in kicking off October as Science Month. CENJARS will have a model rocket exhibit along with other Science clubs at the event and we encourage you to tell others as well as to come to support the club. Space Shuttle Astronaut, Robert Cenker, will be the guest speaker.Mr Cenker was selected by RCA as a Payload Specialist; and approved by NASA to fly on the space shuttle Columbia on Space Shuttle Mission STS-61-C. During the six-day mission, (January 12 to 18, 1986) he performed a variety of physiological tests, observed the deployment of the RCA Satcom Ku-1 satellite, and operated primary experiment, an infrared imaging camera. In completing this flight, Cenker traveled over 2.1 million miles in 96 Earth orbits and logged over 146 hours in space. Please let me know if you can attend and or help out for the day. It will be a great event and check back here for more details closer to the event. | |
