Was very surprised to find today in King Williams College, Castletown, this afternoon, Russian cosmonaut Valeri Tokarev (Soyuz TMA-7 and ISS-12), complete with part of the Soyuz capsule on show that was used on both his space flights, with a very good mock up of the inside.Togther with him was astronaut Leroy Chiao. Both were here on this island to give a talk to the students. I only found out by chance. Both my husband and myself enjoyed 30 minutes of chat, together with a very friendly get-together, which included questions and answers. Since attendance was very low, I don't think many people knew about this, had not seen any details on cS board, nor in the local papers. A very entertaining 30 mins was spent, both Leroy and Valeri are going back this Tuesday evening on a flight to Liverpool. I am really amazed what a great surprise. We are meeting up again, before Tuesday, as I was about the only person who took an interest. Best wishes to all the members, my husband Ted is okay now, and so am I. |
