The B-36 Peacemaker Museum, a Fort Worth-area aviation history group, will host a briefing about the STS-107 mission recovery efforts with Mr. Don Day, manager of the executive operations division of the FAA Southwest Region Office of the Administrator.Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. CDT UNT Health Science Center 3500 Camp Bowie Blvd, Room 108, Main Building Fort Worth, Texas. Following the tragic February 1, 2003 re-entry breakup and loss of the space shuttle Columbia, Mr. Don Day of the local F.A.A. office was tasked with recovering the spacecraft's debris and remains of its crew. Mr. Day assembled a massive array of resources for the job, ranging from wildlife trackers to satellite imagery plus several military and state police units and a small air force to successfully complete his assignment. | |
