Three portraits of Neil Armstrong were reported missing Friday night, after an alleged robbery at the Wapakoneta Post Office.

Wapakoneta Post Master Jennifer Shoup said Friday night, one, or several people entered the post office and stole three reproduction portraits drawn by the late Richard Chadwick, a Wapakoneta native.

The drawings were hanging in the lobby of the post office -- an area Shoup said is never locked.

"It's open 24-7 because people with PO boxes can come in," Shoup said.

Shoup said the largest drawing is 24 by 36 inches and the other two are 8 by 10 inches.

...Shoup said officers informed her to contact pawn shops and to keep an eye toward Ebay auctions. A security camera is operational at the post office, but it failed to capture an image of the suspects.

The two smaller prints were of "Neil with his mother and father" and "Neil during one of his pre-Apollo 11 missions".

The police chief in Neil Armstrong's Ohio hometown says three portraits of the astronaut stolen from the local post office have been recovered.

Wapakoneta Chief David Webb would not say Thursday how police found the print and two enlarged photographs of Armstrong, who became the first person to walk on the moon in 1969. Webb says the pictures have been put back up and authorities have identified a suspect. No charges have been filed.
